The 1988 Academy Awards took place in front of the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The event saw some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Dustin Hoffman, in attendance. The Best Picture award went to "The Last Emperor," while "Moonstruck" took home the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards for Cher and Olympia Dukakis, respectively. The ceremony was hosted by legendary actor and comedian Chevy Chase.
